Little Harbor is a beach at the top of Buzzard's Bay, where I used to lifeguard alone. It was a perch where I learned from the tides and the winds at the edge of a large marsh where the circle of nature started. I read Melville, Kerouac, Vonnegut, and listened to rock and roll and politics on the radio. I watched out for children playing in the waves and on the rocks. I twirled my whistle. I killed horseflies. Pretty girls came by. It was 1975. It's where I go in my head when I want to be true.
